Mouschi's Guide to Post-Apocalyptic Baseball Card Collecting

Saturday, March 1st, 2025.

I never expected it to actually happen. For years, I joked about it, but ever since the economic collapse from early 2024, people are using 1980's & 90's baseball cards as currency.

That's right. Cards from the junk wax era now have value.

While the first wave of COVID from 2020/21 brought in a tremendous amount of new collectors, the second wave in 2024 brought in even more. Coupled with the economic collapse, droves of people were drawn to nostalgia. Cards that were worth a fraction of a penny are now being traded for eggs, and toilet paper.

Perhaps things would be different if a ton of people hadn't thrown away cards from this era for decades, but for now, this is our reality, and the way to escape life for a while for many can come through losing yourself in the statistics on the back of 1990 Topps.

Stay tuned, and hold onto your 1988 Donruss...
